Essentials of Bump Style

These past 9 months have been both fun and challenging dressing and styling the bump. In the beginning it seemed pretty easy and then eventually I started feeling out of my comfort zone with my body and had to learn how to dress it. Since I'm about done I wanted to share my insight with you on dressing the bump. Enjoy!

-Stock up on the essentials:
Depending on the weather, your daily dress code and what you are most comfortable in, no matter what essentials are necessary. Here are a few that I found necessary through my pregnancy: great pair of leggings , layering tankslayering jacketcomfortable shoesno underwire bras and a good pj set.
Where to buy the essentials: Target / Old Navy / Gap

-Don't give up your style:
I was not willing to give up my style for 9 months and neither should you! There are so many great options for dressing the bump, also not to mention SO many designers do maternity now.
My fave maternity designers: AG Jeans / Splendid / Equipment / Hatch / Rebecca Minkoff

-Layering is your friend:
A great jean jacket or kimono is a must-have. I lived in layering pieces the whole time. Wear a little maxi  with a utility jacket, or leggings a tee and leather jacket.

-Try different styles out:
One thing for sure is that your body is constantly changing so things that used to look great on you may not anymore. For me, I was used to wearing cute little short dresses and with a big belly and my legs swelling up they aren't the best look for me anymore.
Fun places to online shop for chic and stylish maternity pieces: Destination Maternity / ASOS / Pink Blush Maternity

-Small changes can make a difference:
You are probably not going to feel your most confident at times, so remember a little change can go a far way. Whether its adding a bright pink lip, a statement necklace or a strappy pair of heels (if your feet can manage). Also, keeping up your beauty routine will make you feel that much better.
Best beauty products: Nine Naturals / Mamma Mio tummy butter / Basq

Target Finds

Pouf / One piece swimsuit / Wedges / Textured Pillow / Black sandal / Mossimo flat espadrille / Merona canvas zip tote / Tote bag / Passport holder / Fedora / Essie nail polish / The Wet Brush /  / Scarf / Xhilaration Sleep Chemise / Bikini top

I made not one, but two trips to Target this past weekend! I just can't get enough. My love for Target definitely comes from my mom, she has a weekly Target trip and is the master at finding the coolest/unique things. I've rounded up a few of my faves above. I have a busy busy weekend coming up, but looking forward to sun, time with friends and enjoying some of the last weekends with my hubby. Have a great weekend!

Spring Florals

Zara dress / Goodnight Macaroon jacket / Stella & Dot necklace /  Vince booties / Givenchy bag

Boy am I happy to pull out the dresses and open-toe shoes. It has been a longgg winter here on the east coast. It also means that May will be here before you know it and a few more weeks of dressing the bump. While it is getting more difficult by the day, I have mixed emotions about coming to the end of this chapter. A part of me is relieved to get back to normal dressing and hopefully eventually getting back into my original size, but I have also enjoyed sporting my bump and the challenge of dressing. I have a few more outfits to share with you and please feel free to reach out if any of you mamas-to-be have questions about styling the bump!

Festival Inspired

Zara tunic (similar herehere and here)  / Steve Madden espadrilles (similar herehere and here) / Vince vest (sold out, similar here) / Ray-Ban sunglasses

Maybe because were coming off the weekend of Coachella and festival inspired clothing has been everywhere, but I was immediately attracted to this denim tunic at Zara. I loved the bright pattern, hippie feeling and was able to rationalize that this would be something I could wear both pregnant and after.  Tunics have been on my radar these days especially with the warm weather ahead. They are so easy to slip on and pair with espadrilles or sandals. Show below for some more of my favorite similar pieces.

April Pregnancy Update

April marks month 8 of my pregnancy. I am 8 and a half months pregnant, ahhh! See below for more on the final month or so of my pregnancy.

I'm Feeling:
Pretty good, but I think I am hitting the challenging part of pregnancy! (mostly sciatica pains and SPD (feel free to look up if you're pregnant) and having more trouble sleeping through the night/ being uncomfortable. Also, my feet!! I didn't think they could hurt this much on a daily basis. I have kicked my heel habit (except for a few minutes of blog posting from time to time) and live in sneakers but my poor feet are not used to carrying this weight! Otherwise, a bit of anxiety/nervousness/excitement all wrapped in one.

Food On The Brain:
I can't say I'm much hungrier these days but eating is fun so I am going to splurge and enjoy it this last month. Faves lately have been Samoa girl scout cookies, cookie dough ice cream and fruit, particularly grapes!

Maternity Fashion:
My style is still evolving throughout this pregnancy. It is certainly getting harder to dress the bump but I have a few more outfits that I am hoping to shoot. Everyday looks are leggings and I just stocked up on a bunch of simple tees. My friends over at A Pea In The Pod just sent me pieces from their exclusive line with Beyond The Bump by Beyond Yoga that I can't wait to try out. Think stylish yet comfortable yoga/workout clothes for a soon to be mama.

P.S. I probably have nowhere to wear this to but I'm obsessed with this beaded dress.

Plans Ahead:
Getting a bunch of stuff done (car seat installation, pick up last minute essentials, layette, etc) and packing my hospital bag!! I started my packing with a great list and this Hatch to Hospital box.

8.5 months pregnant! Now it is just waiting time for this babe...

All of the scary things you read about labor!!

Looking Forward To:
Meeting our sweet baby boy before we know it.
